India IT and Reservations
Earlier governments followed socialism and made everything under govt control. education is with govt and jobs are with govt, reservations become an issue and it was useful for few people to get seats in colleges and jobs in govt companies. It becomes a major issue, since limited jobs and seats, resulted into frustration for people.
Now majority is private owned and they are recruiting based on their requirements. Freedom to choose employees and deliver to market or close the business.
if govt push reservations into private industry, companies may exit or close or run away. Again we will be back to control freak governments and spoiling the society. let us hope they will never do this idiotic move.
Coming to reservations in IT companies. There exist a concept called diversification in many IT companies. Luckily Companies diversification formula is based on languages, regions, gender and disabilities of people. They do encourage hiring managers to diversify their teams and give perks to manager if the team is diversified but this diversification is not forced, only rewarded.
Companies encourage diversification because Orgs need different set of people to flourish and succeed. No one like same group of people filling all the positions and make a monotonous company.
So some kind of reservations exist in IT companies based on language and gender but not on caste luckily.
